Farm conservation and forage program

High yielding cool season grasses and legume mixes

The finest quality grasses and legume mixtures are planted to provide the best diet for our growing lambs. It takes a little more work and effort to maintain the meadows, but we feel it is worth it. . . Experience the great taste of sweet clover/grass fed, tender meat from Hidden Meadow Farm.

Rotational grazing plan

Our sheep flocks spend most of the year out on pasture. They are moved to new grass, anywhere from twice a day to every other day. Keeping them in belly deep, lush green grasses is our goal.

Haylage and hay

When the snow gets too deep in January or February, they are then kept in our dry lots with hay and haylage being their primary feed. Our sheep continue to enjoy the summer crop of fine grass mixes. We find that they are happiest outside lying in the scattered hay around the round bale feeders.

Benefits

Providing our sheep with all the care and attention they need to be healthy is important to us. Our lamb crop is able to get a good start, gain weight rapidly, and be ready for sale by mid summer.
